Closing... again

Last night I closed the store at 1 am. It was another Halloween Party night, so the store wasn’t super busy during the daytime and we were able to tidy up before actual store closing.

My shift was pretty tiring, however, because I spent the first four hours putting items back in their original location and organizing the store. Usually, we have to stay in our assigned rooms during our shifts, but I was able to walk throughout the three open rooms in order to organize the shelves and return items.

After lunch, I was able to re-energize after eating and talking with my friends. I then spent the rest of my shift on register and organizing the store.

Then, my lead told me to close one register. I did this with ease, since I am used to closing by now. My next register had some technical difficulties, so by the time I finished that register, the store was essentially already done for the night.

I joined my roommate in the plush room and asked what she was working on. She was finishing up on the plushies, as was everyone else. At this point, at 12 am, our leads asked if anyone wanted to go home early. The store was already tidy and organized. My reommate and I decided to stay in order to get our full 8-hours. As mentioned, there wasn’t much to do.

Long story short, we stood in one spot for 15 minutes waiting for someone to assign a task to us. Nobody approached us, and we were able to laugh and joke around. We were later assigned to clean the counters with multi-purpose cleaner (so don’t worry, we weren’t fooling around the entire time).

It was another fun closing shift being with my friends. Without them, getting off at 1 am would have been much harder.
