Advent Calendar Day 4

Every time I open a square from my calendar, I add a Tsum Tsum to my Christmas tree. I did this for a few years at home, too. Yes, I have more Tsum tsums at home. I used to be subscribed to the subscription box.

Before some of y’all judge, just know that collecting Tsum tsums is way cheaper than collecting pins. The cheapest pins at Disney cost $9.99 before tax, while Tsum tsums are $5.95. Also, just do whatever makes you happy.

Oh boy, I’m so excited!!!

It’s FLIT! The hummingbird sidekick of Pocahontas! He’s so festive, he’s even wearing a hat, too!

I love the colors of his feathers! A lovely real and a magenta undercoat.

His scarf is for warmth and style.

The cutest tail feathers I ever did see.

The two Pocahontas tsums were a bit unexpected, but still very cute and adorable.

Before I leave you all with this post, allow me to introduce a bit of anthropology into it.

I was never the biggest fan of the movie. I did watch it, but didn’t form a real connection to it. I did read online once, however that the ..... tribe, the tribe Matoaka (Pocohontas’ real name) belonged to, requests that we stop using her image and likeness. I looked all over the internet to find a source of this, but couldn’t find anything.

In order to be allies and support Indigenous groups, who still face the political, social, economic, and health disparities today, it is vital that we listen to what they are telling us. Very often, their voices are marginalized and forgotten about.

You can still enjoy the movie and appreciate it as a lovely work of art and animation. I know it’s an important part of many people’s childhoods. Maybe just think about doing some research about the original story and about the lives of Indigenous people in the USA today.

Here is a really great article written about the life of Matoaka:
