You can compliment a Disneyland Cast Member today!

For those of you who follow me on my social media accounts, you know that I just received a formal certificate of recognition for a Guest Compliment. I received this Compliment on August 26, my second day off of training. When my manager handed me my certificate, he said I go through so many interactions that I probably don’t remember this Guest. Except I do.

I remember this interaction and Guest because, like I said, I got it on my second day after training at World of Disney. That’s pretty memorable. Also, he wrote the Guest Compliment in front of me. At World of Disney, Guests are invited to write Guest Compliments directly inside the store. This is unique to our location.

Guest Compliments are forms Guests are invited to fill out if they have receive outstanding, exceptional Guest services at The Disneyland (r) Resort. Essentially, they are “compliments” given directly to Cast Members. They can be filled out at the Town Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. inside Disneyland Park or at the Chamber of Commerce inside Disney’s California Adventure Park. Sometimes, there is a long wait time to get into these buildings (they’re the same places you go to file a complaint, for context). Filling out a Guest Compliment form, however, is worth waiting for.

While Guests may not know what happens after they fill out the form, the CMs do receive them. There’s no better way to say this other than, it literally makes our entire days. It means someone has recognized us for all our hard work. Sometimes, we don’t even mean to get them. It’s just us acting in natural, normal, polite, and courteous selves. But sometimes that’s all it takes at Disney.

In addition, it lets our leaders know that we are doing great jobs. It translates well to them (but that’s not why we do great jobs— let’s keep that in mind). Obviously, I am mostly speaking for myself and other, newer CMs (older folks may be used to them, or some CMs may not care at all).

Thank you to the Guest who gave me the Guest Compliment on August 26th, 2018! I’m sorry I wasn’t quite sure how to do the exchange right away, and it took some time to find the right shirt (the correct size of a Lion King “I’m her King” shirt), but we found it eventually. I hope the rest of your vacation with your girlfriend went great!

If you don’t want to wait in the long line at City Hall or the Chamber of Commerce, you can also Tweet your Guest Compliment on Twitter! Make sure to tag @DisneylandToday (or @WDWToday for Walt Disney World), and use the hashtag #CastCompliment. They call it Cast Compliment online, but it’s the same thing. The tweet is screenshot, printed, and given to Cast Member who provided exceptional Guest Services! Be sure to thank a Cast Member for all their hard work on your next visit to Disneyland!
